Program Description:
Since 1998, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and NACME have partnered to provide enriched scholarships to students at select institutions. This program is administered by NACME under the direction of the NASA Glenn Research Center. Through the NASA/NACME Undergraduate Student Award for Research (USAR), we strive to enhance enrollment and retention in disciplines relevant to NASA's mission by providing financial aid and support services at designated minority institutions. The goal of the program is to serve both minority serving institutions and high achieving students who have financial need.
Program Restrictions:
Candidates for USAR must attend one of the 19 select institutions and be nominated by the university's NASA liaison. Please see the NACME website for a list of selected institutions. Undergraduate students majoring in mathematics, computer science, the sciences (life, physical, environmental,chemical, medical) or engineering may be considered. All applicants must: Possess an average grade point of 3.0 or better; Be enrolled in one of the majors relevant to NASA's mission; Have earned no more than 39 credit hours (rising junior); Demonstrate financial need as certified by the financial aid office; Be a US Citizen.
