Program Information
Program Name:
Cottrell College Science Awards
Program URL:
http://www.rescorp.org/
Type of Scientists Funded:
Initial PhD Postdoc, Advanced PhD Postdoc, Initial MD Postdoc, Advanced MD Postdoc, Junior Faculty, Administrator, Senior Scientist/Faculty
Program Description:
The Cottrell College Science Awards support research in astronomy, chemistry, and physics at public and private, predominantly undergraduate colleges. The projects proposed are judged on the basis of scientific originality, significance, feasibility, and the ability of the institutional environment to sustain the activity. The potential of the research to involve undergraduate students in a collegial relationship is also taken into account. After review by the foundation staff and outside referees, the composite proposal material is evaluated by an advisory committee of scientists drawn from the academic community. Awards are made to the institution on behalf of the individual investigator(s) following approval by the foundation's Board of Directors.
