GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists
Program URL:
http://www.gescienceprize.org
Type of Scientists Funded:
Initial PhD Postdoc, Advanced PhD Postdoc, Junior Faculty
Program Description:
The GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists has been established to provide support to scientists at the beginning of their careers, because Science/AAAS and GE Healthcare believe that such support is critical for continued scientific progress.

The prize recognizes outstanding graduate students in molecular biology from all regions of the world. For the purpose of this prize, molecular biology is defined as "that part of biology which attempts to interpret biological events in terms of the physico-chemical properties of molecules in a cell" (McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 4th Edition).

Entrants write a 1000-word synopsis of their thesis and submit this to the journal Science for judging by an executive scientific panel. Each year one grand prize winner is selected who wins $25,000 in prize money. Four regional prizes are also awarded each year, each winner receiving $5000.

Submissions should be sent by email as PDF or Word attachments to gescienceprize@aaas.org. Submissions must be received by 1 August. Please do not send paper copies or multiple submissions.
