Program Description:
The Institute of International Education (IIE) is pleased to announce the inauguration of the Freeman Indonesia Nonprofit Internship Program. This program is funded by the Freeman Foundation. It aims to develop student leaders and strengthen the nonprofit sector in Indonesia. IIE will select and pair 10 Indonesian students pursuing U.S. degrees with 10 U.S. undergraduates and arrange internships for them to work together in an Indonesian nonprofit organization.
The 9-week experience, from 15 June 2010 to 17 August 2010, arranged by IIE's partner organization, the Indonesian International Education Foundation, will take place in three cities: Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta. All program-related costs will be covered.
Upon returning to the United States, students will be expected to share their experiences with peers on their home campuses and to explore ways to incorporate what they learned over the summer into their academic and professional careers.
Interested American and Indonesian sophomores and juniors enrolled in U.S. institutions are encouraged to apply, using the online application at http://www.iie.org/programs/finip. The deadline for submission of completed applications for the summer 2010 program is February 15, 2010.
Program Restrictions:
Applicants must meet ALL of the following eligibility requirements: (1) be a U.S. citizen or Indonesian citizen (2)be currently enrolled as a full-time sophomore or junior pursuing their first bachelor's degree at a U.S. college or university (3)be in good academic standing in their undergraduate university or college program and (4)must agree: to complete for Indonesian students: (a) an online course related to NGO administration
for U.S. students: (b) a credit-bearing Indonesian language and culture course in Indonesia during the internship period (5) to share their experiences with their peers upon returning to their U.S. campuses

Applicants must make sure that the electronic nominations from their Study Abroad Advisers have been completed and submitted to IIE by the deadline date. IIE must receive both the student application and adviser nomination by the deadline date above for applications to be considered complete.
Study Abroad Advisers may set earlier campus deadlines for submission of the FINIP application. Thus, applicants should contact their advisers about specific campus deadlines before proceeding with the FINIP application.
